The client calls before you have opened the PDF

Firms are expected to know every NBR SRO and Bangladesh Bank circular the day it is published, because clients ask. Today that means junior staff refreshing nbr.gov.bd, hand-made digests and WhatsApp forwards. Version mistakes are reputational.

Where it hurts

  • Digests are compiled by hand from several index pages, usually after a client has already asked.
  • The June budget burst brings dozens of SROs within days, with last-minute parliamentary edits to the Finance Bill.
  • Multi-client applicability: which of sixty clients does one VAT SRO actually touch?
  • Advice must be defensible later, which needs the exact version, the source URL and the time it was seen.

What we monitor for you

  • NBR: VAT SROs

    In first slice

New and amended SROs from the official VAT SRO list, with the SRO number, date and direct PDF.

  • NBR: Customs SROs

    In first slice

Duty and bond-related SROs from the customs SRO list.

  • NBR: Income tax SROs

    In first slice

Income-tax SROs, shown with a “listing may lag” caveat because the official list has been slow to update.

  • Bangladesh Bank

    In first slice

Department circulars (FEPD, BRPD, PSD and others) that affect clients' banking, forex and payments.

  • Bangladesh Gazette

    Planned

Gazette issues, to cross-check SRO publication; full text pending a Bijoy-to-Unicode converter.

A sample week

  1. Monday

The weekly digest lists everything recorded in the past seven days by regulator. A partner skims it in ten minutes.

  2. Any day

A new VAT SRO arrives. The brief shows what changed and quotes the operative sentence. Relevance rules flag the client profiles it matches, with reasons.

  3. Same day

The firm forwards a client-ready note under its own name and opens a task per affected client with an owner and a due date.

  4. Friday

Open tasks and the week's documents export to CSV for the practice meeting. The audit log shows who saw what, when.

Honest limits

  • We do not interpret the law. The brief quotes; the partner decides.
  • Income-tax SROs on the official list have lagged; we show the caveat rather than pretend the list is complete.
  • Gazette full text and ministry portals are planned, not live.
  • White-label PDF digests are part of the firm plan roadmap; confirm the current state before promising them to clients.
